Our boat is a Parker 2300T Big Bay. These boats are rare and are perfect for our waters. The boat has a deep V in the bow and a short tunnel in the stern which allows the boat to draft only 10." The boat is powered by a Yamaha 250 SHO. To maximize the vessels shallow water capabilities the engine is mounted on a jack plate. This vessel is very safe and has had a custom swim platform added for easy access to and from the water.
Parker overbuilds their boats which makes for a heavier hull and smoother ride. The lower gunnels minimize the amount of sail allowed by the hull. The boat has a large casting area and the back corners are fishable. The boat is equipped with a cobia tower and second station, which gives us a distinct advantage when sight fishing. It has a large live well and plenty of fish boxes. We use a Lawrence 12" bottom machine and charter plotter with side scan capabilities.
Captain Mark Spencer has held his captain's license for 15 years and has been fishing with Captain Chip for 5 years. He fishes out of a Mako 224 with closed in transom and custom Armstrong bracket with a Rodan trolling motor. The added bracket length of almost 3 feet now gives it the reach of a 26 foot boat. He can fish four anglers comfortably.
We use Shimano reels and Teramar Inshore Rods predominately. We use Shimano because we believe they are the best. We could use cheaper outfits but we want our clients to have the best gear we can afford to provide them. (Click the image to learn more about Shimano reels.)
